Position Summary
The Front Office & Member Services Assistant serves as an important point of contact for Camp Lake James members, guests, and visitors. This position provides friendly and professional customer service, handles telephone and front-office responsibilities, assists with event registrations and member requests, processes charges through the point-of-sale system, and helps ensure that the front office and designated common areas are clean, organized, and welcoming.
The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, organized, comfortable working with computers and point-of-sale systems, and able to communicate effectively with members, guests, and other team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Member & Guest Services
- Greet members, guests, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide assistance and information to members and guests and respond to their questions and requests.
- Assist individuals entering the Camp through the front gate as needed.
- Assist members and guests with event registrations, food and beverage orders, and special requests.
- Maintain a welcoming and professional front-office environment.
- Assist with the enforcement of Camp Lake James rules and policies in a courteous and professional manner.
Telephone & Communication
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.
- Transfer calls to the appropriate department or team member.
- Take accurate messages and ensure messages are relayed promptly.
- Communicate important event updates and changes to department heads by email.
- Prepare and distribute end-of-shift reports as required.
Event & Administrative Support
- Create, update, and post event charges through the point-of-sale system to member accounts.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to member events and activities.
- Ensure member information and profile photographs are kept current and accurate.
Point of Sale & Merchandise
- Process member charges for merchandise.
- Assist with merchandise inventory counts.
- Maintain accurate records of merchandise and related transactions.
Facility & Front Office Support
- Keep the front office clean, organized, and presentable.
- Wash, dry, fold, and properly store pool towels.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Monitor the cleanliness of designated bathrooms and the Social Hall and report or address cleaning needs as appropriate.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members and guests.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Office Manager or management.

- Provide consistently friendly, courteous, and professional service to members and guests.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.

Qualifications & Skills
- One year of customer service, hospitality, office, or related experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Good judgment and effective decision-making abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software and systems.
- Ability to operate a point-of-sale system accurately.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Professional, friendly, and positive attitude.
Working Conditions
- Primarily an indoor position requiring extended periods of sitting and working at a computer or front desk.
- Requires frequent communication with members, guests, and team members.
- May require standing and walking throughout the Camp.
- May involve repetitive computer and office-related movements.
- Must be able to work the scheduled weekend hours reliably.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or currently enrolled in high school or college.
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
